What are Nanospheres?

Definition for nanosphere varies based on the source and the application, the most common definition being of a spherical particle of nanometer dimensions. At Cospheric, we define Nanospheres as spherical particles with diameter less than 1micron. These nanoparticles are characterized using a scanning electron microscope (SEM).

What are Microspheres?

There is no standard definition of Microspheres universally accepted in the industry. At Cospheric, we define microspheres as spherical particles greater than 1micron and smaller than 1000micron (or 1mm) in diameter. Synonymous product names are microbeads, microballs, microbubbles, and even microballoons. Microspheres particle size measurements are performed by analyzing a statistically significant sample of microspheres under NIST-traceable optical microscope.

Fine microspheres with diameters between 1micron and 10micron are larger than nanospheres, but on the bottom edge of microsphere particle sizes, and, therefore, in their own category.

What are Precision Spheres?

Spheres have diameters over 1000micron (or 1millimeter). These spherical particles are visible to the naked eye and sometimes also referred to as beads or balls. Large spheres are measured using NIST-traceable calipers to ensure the best consistency of these products, which are often used as size standards and reference particles.

Large variety of precise and highly-characterized spherical powders are offered in many grades and NIST-traceable particle size (diameter) distributions.
