Inertness and chemical stability of glass compositions, high temperature operation (e.g. ability to be sterilized at high temperatures), low density light weight functionality (e.g. ability to be used as a filler to reduce weight and create buoyancy, ability to float to the surface of a solution), make these high-performance additives highly desirable for a wide variety of applications.
