Aluminum oxide spheres are hard, dense, white ceramic particles used when the application requires an inorganic oxide sphere heavier and more wear-resistant than silica, glass, or polymer particles, but lower in density than zirconia, stainless steel, titanium, or tungsten carbide spheres.

Alumina spheres are selected for applications where particle density, ceramic hardness, electrical insulation, and thermal stability are part of the design requirement.

Key Properties

  • Solid aluminum oxide ceramic
  • 3.8 g/cc particle density
  • White opaque ceramic appearance
  • High hardness and abrasion resistance
  • Higher density than silica, glass, and most polymer microspheres
  • Lower density than zirconia, steel, titanium, and tungsten carbide spheres
  • Electrically insulating ceramic material
  • Thermally stable inorganic oxide
  • Non-polymeric, non-metallic particle composition
  • Suitable for applications where soft, deformable, or low-density particles are not appropriate
