Material Safety Data Sheet - Polyethylene Spheres, Beads, Microspheres, and Nanospheres
Barium Sulfate Polymer Microspheres are
created for scientists searching for X-ray opaque microspheres with
high sphericity and tight particle size distribution. Barium Sulfate is
embedded within the microspheres and acts as a radio contrast agent for
X-ray imaging and other diagnostic procedures. These spheres are also know as barium impregnated polyethylene spheres (BIPS) and are often used in veterinary medicine.
White barium sulfate polyethylene microspheres are supplied in dry powder form and are stable in solution. Polyethylene microspheres are hydrophobic and need to be coated with a surfactant prior to suspension in water or aqueous media. We recommend Tween 80 Bio-compatible Surfactant.
